UWFDM-846 Discrete Ordinates Solution of the Time Dependent Radiation Transport Equation on a Distributed Network of UNIX Workstations
نویسندگان
چکیده
The radiation transport equation is solved using the Sn method on an adaptive mesh. The solution is performed in parallel on a network of workstations, communicating with each other using message passing. Analytical speedup estimates are formulated for the calculations and compared with measured speedups. Speedups of 1.83 and 2.97 are achieved on two and four processors, respectively. Finally, suggestions are given for improving the parallel performance.

A hybrid scheme of single relaxation time lattice Boltzmann and finite volume methods coupled with discrete ordinates method for combined natural convection and volumetric radiation in an enclosure
This paper is focused on the application of hybrid Single relaxation time lattice Boltzmann and finite volume methods in conjunction with discrete ordinates method to simulate coupled natural convection and volumetric radiation in differentially heated enclosure, filled with an absorbing, emitting and non-scattering gray medium. In this work, the velocity and temperature fields are calculated u...
متن کاملNumerical simulation of a three-layered radiant porous heat exchanger including lattice Boltzmann simulation of fluid flow
This paper deals with the hydrodynamic and thermal analysis of a new type of porous heat exchanger (PHE). This system operates based on energy conversion between gas enthalpy and thermal radiation. The proposed PHE has one high temperature (HT) and two heat recovery (HR1 and HR2) sections. In HT section, the enthalpy of flowing high temperature gas flow that is converted to thermal radiation em...
متن کاملInteraction of laminar natural convection and radiation in an inclined square cavity containing participating gases
Two-dimensional numerical study of flow and temperature fields for laminar natural convection and radiation in the inclined cavity is performed in the present work. The walls of the square cavity are assumed kept at constant temperatures. An absorbing, emitting, and scattering gray medium is enclosed by the opaque and diffusely emitting walls. The set of governing equations, including conservat...
متن کاملAnalytical Solutions for Spatially Variable Transport-Dispersion of Non-Conservative Pollutants
Analytical solutions have been obtained for both conservative and non-conservative forms of one-dimensional transport and transport-dispersion equations applicable for pollution as a result of a non-conservative pollutant-disposal in an open channel with linear spatially varying transport velocity and nonlinear spatially varying dispersion coefficient on account of a steady unpolluted lateral i...
متن کاملConvergence of Implicit Difference Scheme for 1D Lagrangian Hydrodynamics coupled to Radiation Transport Equation
A fully implicit finite difference scheme has been developed to solve the hydrodynamic equations coupled with radiation transport. Solution of the time dependent radiation transport equation is obtained using the discrete ordinates method and the energy flow into the Lagrangian meshes as a result of radiation interaction is fully accounted for. A tridiagonal matrix system is solved at each time...
